Anticipation is building over when Google will finally release the LG Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 KitKat.

It will make its formal debut on Thursday to US customers through the Google Play store, according to a source close to Canadian tech blog MobileSyrup.

Canadians may get their hands on the phone a week later on either November 7 or 8.

After blowing past previously rumored arrival dates, the ballyhooed Nexus 5 is expected to break cover any day. The past few weeks have given way to multiple dates for the LG smartphone, ranging from the vague “October” to more-specific days and weeks.

It’s worth pointing out that the handset is not yet delayed; we’ve never been given an official time frame in the first place.

Google has historically introduced its new Nexus products and Android releases with a press conference or YouTube broadcast. We might hope to see save the date e-mails or teasers surface in the coming days, giving fans and enthusiasts something to look forward to.

Lg Nexus 5 Launch Delayed

Google’s launch of the Nexus 5smartphone and Android 4.4 KitKat mobile operating system has been delayed by a month.

It is expected that Google will now make the announcement in November, instead of October 28 as planned earlier, according to a report by Phones Review website.

Earlier, there had been media reports and also hints from KitKat’s Twitter account that both the products would be launched on October 28.

Google had recently ‘leaked’ the pricing details of the Nexus 5 on its Play Store which had also strengthened the rumours of an October release.

It is being speculated the delay could have been caused due to LG’s curved smartphone G Flex, which reportedly runs on the latest Android OS. The delay in the G Flex’s release could have affected the new Android’s release timings as well. However, there is no official word from Google or LG on the issue.

The LG made Nexus 5 smartphone, codenamed Hammerhead, would reportedly have a 2.3GHz Quad-core processor complemented by an Adreno 330 graphics processor. Its 5-inch display will have 1920x1080p resolution, with on-screen resolution being 1794x1080p. It is expected to have a 13 MP rear camera and 2GB RAM.

Reports about the Android KitKat have said it would have a totally new design and user interface. Apart from having its own printing options, the new OS would also have a new wireless NFC payment system within its Settings. It would also have the option to save images as PDF files on the device.

Some reports have stated that Google Now will have the ‘always-on’ functionality of Moto X in Android 4.4 and could accept commands in several languages, not just English. Android 4.4 might also introduce SMS function to Google Hangouts app. Android 4.4 KitKat will come with pre-loaded apps like Google Drive and Google Keep.

There is also speculation that Google will also unveil Nexus 10 tablet alongside the Nexus 5 and Android KitKat. This tablet is rumoured to be manufactured by Asus this year, instead of Samsung which had made last year’s model, and could have a full HD screen.

More Nexus 5 details break cover in leaked LG service manual

It appears that nothing about the hardware of Google and LG’s next Nexus smartphone will be left to the imagination by the time it releases. Android Policejust got its mitts on what’s claimed to be a 281-page draft of a service manual for the DE21. Surprise! The product specs match up nicely with the DE20 that went through the FCC a month ago — and then some. This leak reveals the best shots yet of both the internals and the exterior, as well as a through listing of every spec. To refresh your memory, we’ve known those to include a 4.95-inch display, a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, inductive charging and NFC.

There’s an eight-megapixel camera with OIS on back and a 1.3-megapixel shooter on the front. Storage is capped at 32GB and the battery tops out at 2300 mAh. The IPS display has a 1080p resolution and screen tethering is supported via Slimport (just like the Nexus 4). While it’s packing the usual array of sensors for a phone (gyroscope accelerometer, compass, proximity and light), there’s also one that detects pressure. Lastly, there’s the obligatory notification light and a Micro SIM slot. Be sure to be slightly wary of all this, however — as Android Police notes, there are some oddities in the document (Bluetooth is now listed as 3.0 instead of 4.0, for instance).

According to the leak, the Nexus 5 will be priced at $349 in the US which is around Rs 22,000 the same price at which the Nexus 4 was available last month before the company ordered a massive price cut to get rid of all their remaining stock.
